STAFFING UPDATES

We would like to welcome Jenny Green to The Capes office as our new Assistant Resident Manager. Jenny brings a wealth of experience to this position and we could not be more excited to have her as part of our team. She will be working Monday through Friday from 8 – 5. Our Resident Manager, Karinda Boone will continue with her schedule, Wednesday through Saturday 8-5 and Sunday 10-2. For more information on the staffing changes, check your inbox – an email was sent to all homeowners on 8/1/2015 – and next time you’re at the Capes, stop by the office and introduce yourself!

OPEN BOARD POSITION

The Capes Homeowners Association has a 7 member board and with the recent resignation of board member Henry Wheeler, we have one position open. If you would like to serve on the board, please submit a 250-word statement of why you are interested in serving on the board, a resume and photo to residentmgr@thecapeshoa.org no later than Saturday, September 12th so that the board has one week to review the submissions before voting on the new member at the upcoming board meeting Saturday, September 19, 2015.

SOCIAL EVENTS AT THE CAPES

A huge thanks goes out to Petra Shapiro, her husband, Howard, and Claude Zeller for helping set up and take down our 4th of July BBQ event. Nearly 100 homeowners, family and friends came to the meadow on the 4th to enjoy the results of Grillmaster Mike McCuddy’s efforts (thanks, Mike!) and socialize with their neighbors. Thanks also to Wanda Partin for lending her decorating touch, and for organizing the food bank donations.

Our next Capes social event will be the annual Wine and Cheese Social at the bridge house scheduled for 4-6pm on Saturday, September 5th. The HOA will be providing the cheese, fruit and cracker boards, but due to our association’s insurance, the wine for the event is BYO…so grab your favorite bargain brand and a cherished bottle from your cellar and join in the wine tasting fun.

Not to be forgotten – our weekly bocce ball games at 6pm on Saturdays all summer, and the upcoming tennis event August 15th! The Capes office has bocce balls, tennis rackets and horse shoes for check out for anyone who is interested.

The bridge house library just doubled in size thanks to Colby Howe! Thanks Colby for thinking of the Capes lending library and donating all the boxes of books. If you’re doing your summer cleaning, remember the Capes – we love to have your unwanted videos, books, games and puzzles to add to the bridge house collection.

ANNUAL FALL CLEAN-UP

Josh Vance will be managing this year’s Annual Fall Clean-up. There will be three areas staked in the community where you can deposit your yard debris. The tarps will be set up on Thursday, September 3rd and remain up until the last haul away date on Monday, September 14th. This allows two full weekends to take care of your yard maintenance. Josh has been doing lots of work in the neighborhood for numerous homeowners and if you need some added assistance to get your yard spruced up, feel free to give him a call at 503-812-5716 or email at handymanvance@gmail.com.

LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE CONTRACTOR CHANGE

Effective August 1st, The Capes has a new landscape maintenance contractor. North Coast Lawn will no longer be providing their services to our community for the common areas and townhomes. Ground FX will be The Capes new landscape contractor. If you would like to remain on the opt out list, please notify the office.

TOWNHOME PAINTING UPDATE

The townhome painting is just about completed. Ofstad Painting will be finishing up the painting of the front doors on lots 61-70 on Thursday, August 6, 2015.
