Capes News – September 2022

Don’t Miss All the Fun!

The Bridge House (FUN!) Committee has a couple of events coming up this month that you’re going to want to add to your calendar.

  • Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 2-4pm – Potluck Picnic in the Meadow: This will be a very informal social gathering where all Capes owners (and their families and guests) are invited to meet up in the meadow for a potluck picnic. Plates, cups and silverware will be provided, but otherwise it’s a BYO event – BYO tables, chairs and/or picnic blankets, BYO drinks (whether that be adult beverages or otherwise) and BYO dish to share.
  • Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 2-4 pm – Come hear the Kitchen Maven: The Bridge House Activities Committee has invited author and cook Judi Yamada to present her journey of writing a cookbook during the pandemic. It is one of the good things that has come from the pandemic – Judith Yamada’s cookbook “Thrifty Comfort Cooking for Challenging Times.” Seeing a need to help all cooks be more efficient in the kitchen when dealing with food shortages and high prices, Yamada’s cookbook provides a welcome guide to making the most of what you have on hand. Filled with helpful tips as well as over 100 delicious recipes this cookbook is truly a comfort, and 100% of sales that will benefit our local Food Bank. Please bring a can or dry goods to donate to the Food Bank. Her book can be purchased at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. A reception will follow her lecture. [Please note: This is a limited-seating event, and spaces will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to attend, send an email to fun@thecapeshoa.org to reserve your seat today!]

Upcoming Office Closures

The office will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 5, 2022 and will reopen on Tuesday, September 6th at 8am.

The Manager will be on vacation from September 12 – September 27, 2022 and during that time, office services will be limited. If you anticipate needing something from the office, please don’t wait until the last minute to let us know!

Driveway Seal Coating

Barring any unforeseen weather situations, Northwest Asphalt will be here on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (September 7, 8 and 9) to seal coat asphalt driveways for those who wish to have it done. If there are any cracks, they will first be filled for $1.01 per linear foot, then, the entire driveway seal coated for $0.25 per square foot. If you wish to be added to the list, let the office know no later than Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
