SOCIAL EVENTS

The Memorial Day ice cream social was attended by 45 ice cream lovers, who stopped by the Bridge House to enjoy sundaes, cones, and root beer floats (photos below). The next event will be our Fourth of July BBQ, followed by Bocce ball games amongst our residents every Saturday in July and August at 6pm.

The tennis court is in great condition, and we have a few racquets to check out. If you have some you’d like to donate, we’d love to have them in our game closet! We’re planning for a tennis round robin in August – let the office know if you’re interested in joining the fun.

The Bridge House committee is looking for volunteers! If you like entertaining, arranging flowers or coordinating special events, please let the office know. We need some master BBQers for the grill on the Fourth.

FIRE DANGER

As we enter the dryer summer months after what has already been a relatively dry winter and spring, the threat of accidental fire becomes a major concern. There was a story in the news not too long ago about a fire at a motel in Beaverton that was started by someone carelessly tossing a cigarette butt into bark dust. If you must smoke at the Capes, please put your cigarettes out in water, or in a metal container, and NOT in mulch, bark dust or grass – and remind any guests or workers that you have at your property to do the same. A fire in one of our units could quickly spread to others, with devastating consequences. Let’s all do our part to reduce the risk!

SCOTCH BROOM

We’ve hired a local gentleman to remove the scotch broom from common areas, but it is the home owner’s responsibility to keep their own lot free of these noxious and invasive weeds. Please take care of removing your weeds, or give our office a call if you’d be interested in contacting this gentleman to do it for you. He’s very reasonably priced and does an exceptional job.

CAPES RULES FOR RENTERS AND GUESTS

Do you have this document posted at your home as a reminder to your guests? If not, please print it and post it where your guests can see it. This list of rules helps you comply with our community’s CC&R’s and makes you a good neighbor. By all means, this does not list all of the governing rules we live by, but is sure is a good start to being a good neighbor.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW OWNERS

The Capes HOA would like to welcome new owners Stephen and Candice Lanning, who recently purchased a townhome on Capes Drive. If you see them around the neighborhood, be sure to say hello!

GUEST REGISTRATION

Did you see this new notification system on the website for registering guests and renters with the office? Please check it out, and use these new web forms – this process should make it even easier to notify the office of your guests.

DUMPSTERS

The dumpsters are for household garbage only…..NOT your construction debris or old electronics. Residents that have been dumping those items and along with yard debris are costing all of us added expense, and that is not fair to the rest of us that follow the rules. Please take your oversized items to the dump (1315 Eckloff Road in Tillamook) or give the office a call for the contact information of a handyman.

WILDLIFE

Have you noticed the baby bunnies around? They are hopping all over the place at the office. Keep a look out for the new fawns in the community, too! And for the woodpeckers and the bees – be on the lookout for the damage these critters are causing at many of the homes.

BOARD MEETINGS

The board meetings have been changed to 9:30 am with the first agenda item being the open forum. Please attend if you have comments or suggestions for bettering our community. The next meeting is Saturday, June 20th.

TOWNHOME NEWS

The Phase 2 painting (lots 40 – 77) will begin by Ofstad Painting on June 8th.

RODEO

Of course since our Resident Manager is from Bend, this would be of interest to this 4th generation cowgirl at heart…….The 29th Annual Tillamook County Rodeo will take place on June 27th and 28th at the Tillamook County Fairgrounds.. “The biggest little rodeo on the coast”! For a list of more things to do while on the coast, check out our Things To Do page!

leashnpoopTHE SIGN SAYS IT ALL

Here’s a philosophical question for you. If a dog poops in The Capes, and no one is around to see it fall, does it still need to be cleaned up?

Periodically, it becomes necessary to remind the community of these two simple rules: 1) All pets must be on a leash or in a fenced area when outdoors, and 2) If YOUR pet poops while outdoors, it is YOUR responsibility to clean it up….no matter where it is, even if no one else is around to see it happen…ESPECIALLY if it is in a common area or on a property that does not belong to you. This goes for every homeowner, visitor, guest or renter who brings an animal to The Capes.
